How to burn a data CD on the Mac (OSX)

The following instructions are for burning a data CD. To burn a music CD, see How to burn a CD on the Mac (Roxio)

Before you start:

These instructions only apply to burning a CD on a Mac. To burn a CD on a PC see How to burn a CD on the PC (Roxio)

It is recommended to shut down all other programs before burning a CD so they will not interfere with the burning process.

1. Insert blank CD-R into CD-ROM drive
Open the CD-ROM drive by pressing the "Eject" key on the upper right corner of your keyboard, then insert your blank CD and press the "Eject" key again to close the drive.

2. Title your blank CD
This window will pop up to title your blank CD. Enter a name, then click OK.

3. Open the blank CD from your desktop by double-clicking the icon.

4. You may now drag-and-drop files and folders into your blank CD folder.

Once completed, click on the "Burn" logo on the left menu (the logo is to the right of the blank CD title).

5. A window will pop up to confirm the "Maximum" burn-speed. Click Burn.
