Instructional Application/Server Support
IC provides hosted applications and server environments to create online learning platforms for courses needing access to specialized or contained environments. Some examples of this applications/server support include a PostgreSQL database server to support courses on database administration and investigations into how we might provide contained virtual machine environments to support CGI or systems administration classes.
This service is focused on providing scalable solutions that can serve the common needs of a grouping of several classes rather than one-off solutions for a single class. Where possible, we attempt to provide seamless access via standard UCSC accounts and other integration with UCSC systems and services.
This service currently has limited capacity to add other server types or capacity due to staffing and other resource limitations. If you need instructional application or server support please call 459-5651 or email ic@ucsc.edu so we can discuss your needs. Cost and availability of this service may depend on current staffing capacity and the complexity of service needed.
