Faculty Instructional Technology WorkshopsInstructional Computing provides small, hands-on workshops for faculty on a wide range of topics designed to quickly enable instructors to use technology to improve their classes. Workshops focus on effective use of technology to achieve highest impact on student learning, and are designed to be accessible to technology novices and experts alike. Come learn how to create and use internet tools, electronic materials, and collaboration systems in your curriculum through workshops specifically targeted toward UCSC's teaching and learning environment. Attendance is limited to 7-9 attendees per session to enhance participants' comfort level in dealing with new technologies in a safe environment. Workshops are designed to create collaboration and exchange of ideas amongst the participants and incorporate pedagogy and best practices. Sample topics include: creating and maintaining presentations, websites, and multimedia (animations, digital audio, and video). Workshops also include learning management system (WebCT) support with specific workshops on popular integrated applications such as: discussions, online quizzes and surveys, grade book, student presentations, and assignment submission. We can also provide—as requested by an instructor and on a limited basis—workshops for students in an instructor's class based on standard offerings. |
