FITC LabThe Faculty Instructional Technology Center (FITC) lab provides an exclusive faculty computer lab with software, hardware, and staff support to enable the creation and development of multimedia course materials. The FITC lab is available to instructors and their designates (TAs, etc) on a drop-in basis during normal business hours. Twenty-four hour access is available on request via assigned door codes. Macintosh and Windows computers are available with software and hardware enabling faculty to develop and maintain multimedia instructional materials, web sites, Learning Management System (WebCT) content, etc. The FITC is equipped with hardware for audio and video digitizing, CD-ROM/DVD burning, slide, flatbed and batch scanning, etc. Where possible the FITC lab software environment is designed to be similar to other IC labs to provide a continuity of experience between this faculty development environment and the environment used by students. The FITC has extensive, faculty-specific help resources available. FITC student employees are available to provide basic consulting during their posted schedule or by appointment. Online tutorials covering popular lab tasks are accessible from the FITC lab. We also provide four hours per quarter of free technical assistance per instructor. If you need more than four hours of assistance per quarter, we can arrange for a recharge for services beyond four hours. You can also get assistance while in the FITC lab through our other faculty support services (see Related Services box). |
