Description
Sun workstations are powerful computers primarily used by students familiar with the Unix operating system. For students less familiar with Solaris 10, there is an available option to login to the IC Virtual Lab Windows environment. Baskin Engineering 105 is the only IC Sun lab at UCSC. The Sun lab is located on the first floor of Baskin Engineering, across from the restrooms, and next door to the PC lab.
Printing
By default when you tell a lab computer to print it will simply come out of the printer next door in Baskin Engineering 109 and $0.12/page will be automatically charged to your university bill; no print card is needed. Printing is limited to the times that BE 109 is open because of the printer's location in a staffed lab. Student accounts are enabled to print bill by default. Faculty and staff can enable their account for billing by filling out a simple web form. Please note that it may take a few days to process your request.
